Some time ago, I had a charming idea for a 2D animation centered around two unusual characters: a snail that carries a lettuce head as its “home” and a young goose that appears to be very interested in this lettuce. Today, I want to share these concept sketches with you, and perhaps reflect a bit on the untapped potential of this story.

The first image showcases the design of the Lettuce Snail, a lovable snail that carries a full lettuce head on its back. The illustrations explore different emotions and scenarios that this little character might find itself in, from moments of rest to panicked escape from potential danger. I particularly enjoyed the idea of the snail carrying a “nutritious” home, a humorous contrast that could come alive beautifully in animation.

The second image focuses on the Young Goose, energetic, curious, and always on the hunt for a juicy snack. She is the perfect counterpart to the snail and promises plenty of humor and adventure. Her gestures and expressions already hint at the lively personality she could bring to the animation.

Unfortunately, I haven’t continued working on this idea, at least not yet. But that doesn’t mean it’s forever shelved. Sometimes creative projects need time to mature or to resurface at the right moment. Perhaps one day I’ll return to this story and bring the chase between the Lettuce Snail and the Young Goose to life in a humorous 2D animation project.

Until then, I’m happy to continue designing characters and developing stories, because sometimes the true treasure lies in capturing dreams and ideas in sketches, even if they (yet) haven’t come fully to life.
