The Seehas

The Legend of Lake Constance – Within Reach.

For 89 EUR

Eckhard Besuden’s iconic design leaps off the canvas. As a modern, 3D-printed art piece, the Seehas finds its way directly into your home.

The Story of the Seehas

The Seehas is more than a legend – it is a piece of Lake Constance’s identity.

Konstanz-based artist Eckhard Besuden redefined this myth. Far from traditional depictions, he created a figure with edges, angles, and character. His modern interpretation has long become a hallmark – a bold and iconic homage to the region.

From Brushstroke to Digital Model

To perfectly capture the character of the original, the same high-end tools used by animation studios like Pixar were employed. The goal was not a mere copy, but a vivid interpretation.

The fur in particular showcases this level of detail: its texture is deliberately designed to appear visually “wet” – a homage to the Seehas’s natural habitat.

There is no stock inventory. Each piece is not mass-produced, but exclusively crafted for each individual order.

No Compromise on Shape

To ensure the Seehas looks perfect, the goggles and snorkel are crafted as separate elements. This multi-part construction delivers razor-sharp edges and a depth that would be lost in a simple single-piece print.

Eckhard Besuden on the Seehas

When I first put the Seehas on canvas, I never imagined that one day it would stand before me as a three-dimensional figure. The leap from painting to sculpture turned out surprisingly well – the wit and character of my original idea have been perfectly preserved in this form.
