Nuka-Cola Dirty

This is the dirty variant of my Nuka-Cola 3D model, the version that actually fits into the Fallout wasteland. While the clean version represents a pre-war advertising look, this one shows the bottle as you would find it in the post-apocalyptic world: weathered, scratched, and covered in grime.

Design & Concept: I created two variants of the Nuka-Cola bottle. The clean version works as a retro product shot, while this dirty version tells a story of survival. The goal was to make it look like it had been sitting in the wasteland for decades, exposed to radiation, dust, and decay.

Workflow: The weathering and dirt layers were built up in Substance 3D Painter using multiple material layers. Starting from the clean base model, I added rust, scratches, dust, and grime step by step. Rendering and lighting were done in RenderMan, with final adjustments in Photoshop.

Challenges: The biggest challenge was making the dirt look believable without overdoing it. Every scratch and stain needed a logical reason, where would dust accumulate, where would paint chip off, where would rust form? It was a constant balance between realistic wear and keeping the iconic Nuka-Cola design recognizable.
